In the summer of 2018, I was shooting for my film ‘Torbaaz’ in Bishkek, the picturesque capital city of Kyrgyzstan, with Sanjay Dutt.
After a hard day’s shoot, while enjoying some local cuisine, we started discussing politics when our conversation turned towards Yogi Adityanath, who had taken over as UP CM, less than a year earlier. “How’s he like,” asked Sanju.
I had been a part of his first roadshow in Mumbai, where he interacted with a few of us from the Indian film & business fraternity.
“Ab to UP mein gangsters nahi rahe (the era of gangsters in UP is over now),” he had wryly told me while being introduced as the producer of ‘Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster’ during the round table lunch.
